Xavier University Now Offers Campus ID Card on iPhone, Apple Watch, and Android Devices
With Mobile One Pass Enabled by Transact Campus, Students Can Get Around Campus With Just A Tap Of Their Device At Campus Readers
CINCINNATI AND PHOENIX (Nov. 1, 2021) – Xavier University, the oldest Catholic College in Ohio annually ranked among the nation’s best universities,
and Transact, the leader in innovative credential and payment solutions for a connected campus, today announced Xavier University students, faculty, and staff can
now use their iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android device to conveniently, safely, and securely access campus buildings, meals plans, and more. Xavier is the first institution of higher learning in the State of Ohio to make this technology available
to its students, faculty, and staff.
With mobile IDs, students can complete nearly any action that would have previously required a physical ID card with just their iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android device. Students simply place their device near a reader to enter dorms,
libraries, access meal plans, make purchases at campus stores, and more. Transact Campus is the mobile credential solution provider offering these NFC-enabled digital IDs for Xavier.
The move from physical ID cards to the contactless, Xavier One Pass on iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android phones allows for transactions that are safe and convenient; and it helps students avoid touching the readers or handing their ID cards to someone else. Xavier University can also issue school IDs remotely without the need to see students in-person or print physical cards, creating a safer, more cost-effective, and more environmentally friendly process.
“We are excited to bring this innovative technology to the Xavier Community. It allows us to distribute the official University ID to our student, faculty, and staff in a contactless and secure manner. The mobile technology allows our community
members to interact with our services in a way that is more secure, more convenient, and totally frictionless. It is a real game changer,” said Bill Moran, Senior Director of Auxiliary Services at Xavier.
“The mobile ID is super
convenient. I always have my phone, so not having to worry about whether or not you have your All Card on you is so nice!” said Grace Arnold, Xavier undergraduate student.
The One Pass on iPhone, Apple Watch, and Android devices provides an extra level of security and privacy, so students do not need to worry about misplacing their physical card when they are enjoying campus life, and transaction history is never shared with Apple or stored on Apple servers. If a student misplaces their iPhone or Apple Watch, they can use the Find My app to immediately lock their device and help locate it. If a student misplaces their Android, they can use the Find My Device app or web portal.
In addition, students can easily suspend their One Pass, if needed, through the Transact eAccounts app on either Apple or Android Devices. And, the One Pass on iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android devices is protected by two factor authentication to ensure
only the student can access their own account.
“The new mobile credential technology at Xavier serves as a highly visible example to show prospective students that Xavier is committed to introducing and utilizing
the most innovative technology to meet their needs,” said Jeff Edwards, Associate Provost & Chief Information Officer.
To set up their mobile One Pass, Xavier students and employees must download the Transact eAccounts app, authenticate with their university credentials, and then add their One Pass to Apple Wallet or Google Pay. For more information or help setting up mobile ID, please visit xavier.edu/onepass.
