College students are often juggling loaded class schedules and extracurricular activities making it more important than ever to find creative ways to market the benefits of your convenient Transact solutions to them - whether it be Integrated Payments, Campus ID or Campus Commerce.
We came up with three easy tactics you can follow to help you succeed in your marketing efforts and get their attention.
Meet students where they are. Leverage on-campus events such as student orientations and activity fairs, as well as campus eateries and other student gathering places to introduce Transact solutions to those who aren’t yet using them. You can set up quick demonstrations to show them how easy and convenient the solutions are and how to get started. Students make great staffers for events like this!
Take advantage of built-in student marketers. Most schools are short on resources and staff, and don’t have time or budget to pull together robust marketing campaigns to promote services. To fill these gaps, identify and collaborate with student ambassadors such as student athletes, council members, and fraternity or sorority leaders to help with promotions on campus. Students can influence their peers and staff events, so you can focus on other administrative tasks. To incentivize students to promote these services, you can offer them rewards such as school spirit swag, bookstore credits, discounts, and gift cards.
Make it fun. Join forces with students by collaborating on marketing initiatives geared toward their peers. Savvy student influencers can help you create a buzz by sharing positive testimonials, reels, and videos on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and more. Colleges like the University of Central Florida (UCF) and Temple University partner with student ambassadors often to share news organically. UCF asks campus ambassadors to post several times per week in their own social channels about UCF as well as host other content—like Takeover Tuesdays and longer “day in the life” YouTube videos—on the university’s platforms. Similarly, Temple University works with a team of dozens of influencers on takeovers and video blogs. (“Teaming Up with Student Influencers,” www.case.org, 2020)
Transact is Here to Help
At Transact, we’re confident the ideas above will pay off. Our data shows that schools who work with us on marketing see twice as much product adoption and usage as schools who don’t. Just ask Lori Caffrey, who leads our Campus Engagement team.
“Our team’s sole purpose is to ensure schools successfully and effectively communicate with their students about the Transact products and services on their campus to increase student satisfaction, engagement and usage,” Caffrey said.
As a Transact client, you have access to easy-to-use, self-serve, turnkey marketing tools and best practices.
“Depending on the product, we offer a variety of marketing resources, from ready-to-send emails and student-facing videos, to collateral and product copy that can easily be added to websites,” she said.
