Penn State’s recent mobile id+ card launch in January was record-setting, having provisioned 14% of students on day one across 24 campuses. The mobile id+ card allows students, faculty, and staff to use their iPhone, Apple Watch or Android phone to access campus buildings, securely make purchases with a meal plan or LionCash and so much more. Transact’s NFC enabled mobile credential is a safe and secure solution that enables contactless, tap-to-pay transaction technology.

Penn State’s success was the culmination of a multi-channel awareness campaign that ranged from emails, digital screen advertisements, videos, variety of social posts, retractable banners, table tents, campus app push notifications, and messaging on bathroom stalls in restrooms all over campus. Penn State student influencers, and an Apple Watch giveaway were also included in the mix.

The mobile id+ card marketing campaign was orchestrated by Transact’s engagement marketing team who collaborated closely with Penn State’s Auxiliary and Business Services, Director of Marketing and Communications, Diane Espy.

“Diane and the entire Auxiliary and Business Services marketing team were amazing to work with throughout the duration of the project. They were open to my feedback, and flexible with the marketing milestones prior to Penn State’s launch,” said Ben Ryan, Marketing Manager at Transact.

“At Transact, we listen to our clients. Understanding and responding to their needs is a critical part of our suite of products and our success. “Our students love the simplicity and convenience of always having their mobile id+ card on hand, since they typically have their phone with them. With the start of New Student Orientation in May and throughout the summer, we anticipate that first-year students will take advantage of this new technology,” Espy said.
