What challenges brought Wayne State to look for a new integrated payment program for higher education? 

Wayne State is a public research university with thirteen schools and colleges in Detroit, Michigan, and over 24,000 students. 

Before Patrick Beirne joined Wayne State, the University had many vendor partnerships. These vendors used different processes to collect revenue from payment plan enrollment. Patrick said, "We didn't want to outsource the revenue to another entity." 

Patrick wanted to solve this issue. He used the Transact Integrated Payments solution for higher education. This helped him customize their e-bill system. His main goal was ensuring the new system met the students' needs. 

He worked on bringing operations in house and finding ways to generate revenue. This revenue would help fund the department's reorganization.

Not only do students benefit, but so does the administration. With the department reorganization, Wayne State now collects revenue from the payment plans. As Patrick planned, this revenue has funded the changes. It has also given decision-makers a sense of financial security and confidence.
